Multiple People Shot at Howe Community Park – Unsanctioned Gathering Ends in Shooting
Saturday night, an unauthorized gathering of multiple hundreds of attendees at Howe Community Park in Sacramento County's Arden-Arcade neighborhood became the scene of a shooting when an estimated 20 to 25 gunshots filled the air as law enforcement officers were attempting to clearing the area.
A Timeline of Events
At approximately 6:30 PM, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department got reports reporting people potentially carrying concealed firearms at Howe Park. An additional caller mentioned a possible altercation and individuals fleeing the scene.
An airship was dispatched and scanned the park but was unable to locate any ongoing altercation.
At the same time, hundreds of individuals had collected at the park for what authorities described as an unauthorized event. Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies set up around the park, switched on their vehicle lights, and dedicated around 15 minutes commanding the crowd to clear out over loudspeakers.
As officers worked to clear the park, between 20 and 25 shots filled the night air — triggering a panicked crowd in every direction.
Victims of the Shooting
Four check here individuals — a woman click here and three website men, all young adults in their 20s — were taken to nearby hospitals. Two were classified with immediate injuries, one victim had moderate injuries, and one was treated for minor injuries. All four victims were stable. Sacramento Metropolitan Fire responded to the scene and triaged victims at the park.
The Investigation Scene
The incident occurred on the Cottage Way corridor side of the park close to the nearby Home Depot at the 2200 block. The Home Depot store was placed under temporary lockdown. More shell casings were identified on Cottage Way, with projectile damage found in the metal fence around the nearby more info Home Depot — pointing to a shooter firing south from Cottage Way toward the Home Depot. Investigators and crime scene technicians investigated the scene well into the evening.
The Suspect Vehicle
Through scanner communications, it was confirmed that a suspect vehicle — described as a Kia vehicle website — was contacted in Solano County with four detainees. SCSO deputies were dispatched to retrieve the detainees and transport them back to Sacramento County. Footage confirmed two gunmen were present.
